Constitution freedom of religion protect karta hai – believe, practice, propagate. Lekin conversion ke issue par emotions high ho jate hain. Kai jagah anti-conversion ya “regulation” laws aaye, jisme force, fraud, allurement se kiye gaye conversions punishable hain.
Courts generally मानते hain ki:
- Voluntary, informed conversion kisi adult ka personal right hai,
- Lekin coercion, blackmail, ya material inducement se conversion illegal ho sakta hai,
- State limited regulation kar sakti hai, par pure ban ya harassment allowed nahi.
Practical problem ye hai ki ground level pe bhi genuine interfaith couples aur sincere converts ko bhi suspicion se dekha jata hai. Notices, police inquiries, family pressure sab mix ho jata hai.
Legal position evolving hai – har naya law challenge face karta hai, aur courts ko balance dhoondhna padta hai: ek taraf religious freedom, doosri taraf vulnerable logon ka protection.
End of the day, choice ka respect aur abuse ka control, dono ek sath possible honi chahiye.
